How to Reform Capitalist System
November 11th, 2010 / Author: Pia Fields The high debt ratio, high unemployment rate and high health insurance premium expose the weakness of Capitalism. All these messes are caused by the greed of mankind. Greedy demands make jobs move out of the United States. Greedy fee charges make health insurance premium increase without control. Greedy consumption makes people live on debts and leave bad debts to the banks. Bad debts will make banks and businesses collapse and result in more people losing jobs. With loan, without jobs and face inflation (our currency quantity easy plan will create inflation eventually) people might riot just like what happened in France. Wars for protecting our people, our home lands are not in Iraq or Afghanistan but are in right here – in the United States. People who threaten us are not in those territories but those who took huge bonuses, ran shareholder’s businesses to bankruptcy and walked away CEOs.
Today, most of our banks have more liability than assets and they are actually bankrupt. Some capitalists such as CEOs walk away after grabbing enough bonuses. Other capitalists keep the profit they made in our market without creating jobs. They left the messes to the government and actually turned our capitalist system into a socialist system. Those companies are too big to collapse and they are too big to be held as well. Government has no choice but releasing public assistance and unemployment insurance checks. Its involvement is important at this moment and how to make their involvement work efficiently is even more important. We have to do something even though our policies are considered socialist policies.
1) Increase taxing those monopolists and limit their profit at 5%. If they refuse to cooperate cancel their license. In China all the military industry, oil and energy business, insurance business, phone and internet business are owned by the government. Taxes they paid are 500% higher than what the private businesses paid. Still the Chinese think they are not paying enough because they are the only companies that run the market. Now the Chinese Government made those businesses present all of their profit to the country and use that to improve the public’s benefits. Compared with what the Chinese do, limiting our monopolists’ profit income is a reasonable decision. We should also increase imported tax. Last two years Obama actually did some changes that the Republicans were willing to do, such as making oil companies pay taxes and monitor Wall Street’s behaviors.
2) Giving immigration quotas to people who bring in money to this country but not to those who spend our welfare. Today people have to invest a few million dollars for applying citizenship in Singapore as well as in Hong Kong. They have to invest about one million dollars in Singapore’s real estate market and keep 1 million dollars as savings in their banks. If we have foreigners to support our real estate market we can go ahead to make profits in construction field.
3) Stop providing free lunch. They should not allow people to sit there and collect unemployment checks or accept public assistance. Government refers them jobs that can create assets. For that reason we need to rebuild our light industry and develop our agriculture. Government can focus on providing low rent or free rent factory facilities. We can use a stimulate fund to build up government’s own properties. That should be better than just handing cash to the motor or house consumers. Government cannot be a business owner and it can at least be a landlord. Government should also provide labors – make people work for their unemployment check. Government meanwhile should purchase products made in the United States first to support our youth’s business.
With the support from government we can rebuild our light industries. Our college students who major in business management, finance and economics can make research, hand in proposals and build up connections in the market with government. We need passion that the former GM CEO has to turn a company to a profitable company. Our youth should learn how to solve problems in real life. Their proposals should be reviewed by companies that are willing to donate their funds back to our society. For those practical ideas we should give them funding.
Donations raised by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates give hope to today’s Capitalism. I believe so not because they are willing to donate their wealth but because of their unselfish goals. They don’t need to say a word as they challenge capitalist greedy.
They reform capitalism without bleeding. They share their wealth with the public and referring socialism factors into the capitalist world.
Our economic structure needs to be reformed. We have only high-tech companies and those companies cannot absorb that many labors. There are 70% businesses in this country provide services only. The services they provide require consumptions more than creating real assets. For create jobs we desperately need our light industries back. Only turning raw material to merchandises or plants growth from fields can bring in real wealth for this country. Only real income can help us pay back our debt and strengthen our purchase ability.
On whole, for reforming capitalism and create jobs we need to connect three parties: Government that has power; unselfish capitalists that have funds and people, particularly youth, who have passion. In this picture we are practicing socialism without scaring people. Rich people donate their wealth through free will but are not being robbed by communists. We are not union workers who require the maximum salary and do the minimum jobs. We just maximize entertainment and minimize our expenses. We are changing our goals not because someone brainwashed us. We just realize that it is not worth it to be the slaves of money because having money doesn’t mean having happiness. We seek profit because we need food, shelter and low cost entertainments not because we are greedy. This is how to set up a socialist lifestyle in the capitalist world. This way we stand in our land to support ourselves on our own. No matter how this world collapses we won’t fall down.
