Nobel Peace Prizes
In my last article, the efficiency of a government, I list a lot of good things that the Chinese government did for its people. It looks like I am a speaker for them and I have to clarify my standing here.
What I mean is that there is never a government that did so many things for so many people in such a short period of time. They are moving in the right direction. We should give them credit but not embarrass them or overthrow them. It is luck that 1.2 billion people on the globe are ruled by a government that basically works for people and functions efficiently. I believe a government like that will not threaten the peace of the world because they focus on improving people’s live.
I also conveyed the opinion in that article, a government that let people say something but does nothing for its people is not better than a government that does something but does not allow people to talk too much. U.S government is facing a serious challenge for the financial situation they encounter. Our free economic system does not function well. It is time to reevaluate our system that once was considered the best system. If we don’t make changes efficiently we will create big trouble for our world. Printing dollars is just like launching a way to destroy this world.
Just becuase I listed things that the Chinese government did, doesn’t mean that I ignore their problems. I just notice that they are improving. In their internet we can see tons of comments that openly attack government people from different levels. In 2010 their prime minister Wen Jia Bao promised in front of the whole world that they will reform their political system. I feel sorry that right after he made that sincere statement, Nobel Prize Committee launched an attack through its decision for the Nobel Peace Prize.
It is true that the Chinese don’t have freedom that the Western people have. China is not a democratic country because its government leaders are not selected by the people but recommend by someone. If the Chinese are lucky they can have a government that cares about people’s benefit. Since they don’t have laws and channels to monitor cadres from different levels corruption is serious. Chinese government did try to clean up criminals inside their party. However since the conflicts and anger that their cadres created are too big, the leadership is afraid of being criticized openly. The thing they worry the most about is people contacting each other to do something. That is why they nock down Falun Gong people and jailed Liu Xiao Po when he asked people to sign ia petition.
I understand the Chinese government’s worry: They believe a country that has 1.2 billion people needs stability more than anything else. If they let Liu Xiao Po and youth from Tian An Men ( 4th June, 1988) do whatever they demanded there will be riots but not peace. I don’t think that Nobel Peace Prizes were given to Liu Xiao Bo and the Dalai Lama (religious leader) were appropriate decisions. I don’t see that they did anything for maintaining peace but only see that they attacked the Chinese government. Dali-lama claims his people were free, but he controlled their religious thinking. His government had weak functions and his people lived in poverty, yet he got the Nobel Peace Price form the Nobel committee. Gore and Obama did nothing for maintaining peace and they got Nobel Peace Prize as well. The Chinese government improves Tibetan’s live tremendously and the Nobel committee ignored that.
The Nobel Peace Prize Committee might be well meaning but their logic is too simple. They don’t see things from a histoical changing perspective and ignore what happens in real life. They simply carry their faith all the way down and this is a mistake that people from the academic world usually make. As I mentioned before scholars believe democracy and freedom are a priority over peace; they defend a one hundred year old consumption theory; they believe high GDP is important for mankind even though resources in the world could not support that kind of consumption; they defend theories of Newton, Einstein and Big Bang and ignore facts exist in the physical world.
This is the picture: Nobel Prize Committee has money to give out as a reward and they carry a ruler to measure here and there. The Chinese united some countries to boycott Nobel Peace Prize and let the reward go to an empty chair. They even set up their Kong Fu Zi reward and gave that to Guo Ming Party’s former leader Nian Zhan who created a peaceful relationship between China and Taiwan. At the ceremony, a girl represented Nian Zhan to receive the reward. The whole thing looks like a game. When a reward is so grand for some people it is like a joke for other people. We are being entertained in the whole process. My conclusion is: they both have good wishes – one party like peace and the other party want stablelity.
