How to reduce government’s debt

July 8th, 2011  / Author: Pia Fields

Debt created by governments become more and more seriously today. Why every country has such a high debt (beside Libya)? It is because mankind is being misled by the philosophy of consumption. Government’s funds are lacking monitor and control. They are being stolen and waist easily. Below I list reasons that government’s debt are high and discuss the ways to deal with it.

1) Funds are being corrupted directly. Loans are taken by government leaders without a legally process such what the brother of Afghans’ president did in a bank. The same kind of thing happens in China easily. It is said up to today 150 billion dollars have been corrupted and transfer outside of China. The Chinese is unable to chase that money back because it is not easy to get help from the international police department. For eliminating corruption, United Nation should consider anti-corruption is part of the project of anti-poverty. They should consider that corruption is anti-humanity. Any government officers’ money that without acceptable resource should be freeze and send back to their government.

2) Funds are being corrupted indirectly. Government’s fund can be stole easily in Wars. That happens in the United State mostly. The United States has less chances being invaded but created the most wars in this world. When warmongers got profit from the contracts in the wars government’s debt was accumulated. UN there for should declare that all wars are anti-humanity. Conflicts between countries should be solved by negotiation.

3) It is a common sense that if you don’t have money you don’t spend the money even thought the spending can create jobs. Government should not provide benefit when they have no fund. They should never encourage people who without money to spend money as well. It is because consuming is not the best way to create jobs. Populations on the Earth today have increased 75% since 1975, up to 7 billion. In Greece 40% youth having no job is a dangers signal for us. It is obviously that even a good economic situation cannot provide jobs for all these people and we should not expect the market to solve unemployment problem automatically. Consumming is not a pratical way to create job also because maximizing consumption means encouraging throw away things. However, resource on Earth must be increased for six times to satisfy the consumption philosophy we promote today. We can not drive up GDP forever. Capital’s concept of seeking profit should not be the motivation of developing this world. We don’t need a lot of money but just need basic food, shelter and low cost entertainment. Governments should arrange jobs directly instead of giving out benefit in long term.

4) Business that government can build up is agriculture. When we succefully growth things from the soil we can survive. That is how our ascendants survive in the last few thousand years. Life on the Earth actually was simply. Seeking profit make things complicate. Government can improve the living environment and arrange entertainment to settle people down in the country. Changing our expectation about lives is a way to meet this goal. We don’t need high salary jobs but need simple and enrich life. Let us start to promote this philosophy to our new generation first. Their seeking is actually getting simple. They like internet and video games that doesn’t need a lot of money to set it up but need a lot of time to play with it. Share jobs, spend less and play more will be our life model in the future. That will help our governments to solve employment problem and decrease debt.

Problems behind the debts in worldwide

July 6th, 2011  / Author: Pia Fields

In July 2011, Obama administration was struggling for rising up the debt ceiling. Starting from Little Bush’s administration America has accumulated its debt to 14.3 trillion dollars. Today every dollar that the government spends has 40 cents paying for interest. According to the report from Brown University, counting the interest and the benefit that we have to pay to the wounded soldiers the actual cost for Iraq and Afghanis war was actually close to 3.7 trillion dollars. Right now the 14.4 trillion dollars national debt is close to 80% of the country’s GDP. Meanwhile the bonds and pension deficit that our local governments have were not less than 3 trillion dollars. Counting that, Americans’ debt ratio will be over 150% of our GDP. Those debts might not be covered by our Federal government but definitely have to pay by some departments or we will create default.

The financial situation in Europe is not better than U.S. In July 2011, Europe faced financial crises created by Greece. For receiving fund from European Union and International Monetary Fund Greece government has to cut budget. Greece parliament hardly passed a framework bill (155-138) involving $39.7 billion tax hikes and budget cut. During that moment thousands of Greeks protested in outside parliament. Policemen had to throw flash bombs and tear gas projectiles to drive back the crowd. Those people hope their government to get rid of their debt by getting into default. They said Greece has no future when carrying out those debt and interest. People over there react so tough because they believe that it was the government’s high rank officers and bankers mix up the financial situation. It is not right to let people pay for the debt by cutting their benefit. Right now Spain’s unemployment rate above 16% and unemployment for youth is over 40%. The same situation actually exists in at least four other countries in Europe. Partridge and Irland government’s bonds were considered junk by Moody in July,2011 as well.

Those countries have other loans beside government debt. It is said private loan that the four bigest Franch banks put into Spain is 3.4 times of the Spain government bonds that they hold. Private loans that they have in Greece is 33 billion Euro, 100% more than the Greece government bonds that they hold. Germany has the same trouble. Personel and business loans that their banks gave to Spain and Italy were 174 billion Eruo and the government’s bonds they hold is about 70 billion Euro. If those countries go bankcrupt the situation will be much wrose than we expect.

During that time Chinese Government leader Wen Jia Bao visited Europe and promise to buy more bonds from Europe. As the biggest creditor of U.S and Europe they don’t want to see dollars and Euro collapse. Unfortunately, the Chinese financial situation is not that good as what we expect. Their local government’s debts can give their banks trouble any time. It is said just debt that local governments have to pay back in 2011 was 40 billion dollars. Their total debt is 166% of their GDP. Within 5 years 1 trillion dollar debt will be due and all those debt is tied up with the central government. From 2006 to 2009 RMB supply increased 29% and loans released by their banks increased 32%, up to 14 trillion dollars. Moody, an international financial institute worry that 8% to 12% of their loan are bad debt. Before Aug 19, 2011, three of their banks will have over 12% shares unfreeze in the market, 160 billion dollars share are hold by the American banks. That means those Chinese bankers will face pressure by then. For meet government’s cash require regulation, during end of every month, the Chinese bankers pay short term interest rate equal to annual rate 36%. The crisis that the Chinese banks created is not less than what the Wall Street did because of lacking controls and serious corruption there.
It is times to face debts problems that exist in worldwide. It is said Moody, a financial authorities starts to consider that using new debts to cover old debts is default. Being pressure by their people Greece Parliament might not be able to pass the bill to prevent default. We have to seriously take care of those debts and solve the social problems it creates. How? I will mention it in next article.

ICC’s Arrest Warrants and its consequence

June 29th, 2011  / Author: Pia Fields

On June 27, 2011 the International Criminal Court issued international arrest warrants for Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam Qaddafi, and intelligence chief Abdullah Senussi, charging them with crimes against humanity. The ICC warrant said that the above three people are responsible for ‘killing, injuring, and imprisoning hundreds of civilians” between Feb 18 and Feb 28.

The chief prosecutor of ICC is Luis Moreno-Ocampo. We don’t know how this guy got the position. We just knew that one week before he issed the warrant, he announced in front of the whole world about Qaddafi giving drugs to his troops and making them raped rebel’s women. The report of cause was handed in by Libya rebels but was proved as lie by the UN human right organization one week later. Investigators found no victims and no hospital records relate to that crime.

The same irresponsible guy Luis Moreno-Ocampo issued ICC arrest warrants without attaching the number of dead in Libya’s uprising in Feb. As what we see during Arab spring deaths in other country, such as Yemen and Syria were much more then in Libya. Also deaths in NATO’s airplane strike were also more than people died from Feb 18 to Feb 28. Why the warrants just against Qaddfi but not anybody else.

During this time the president of South Africa reminded UN that their responsible is to protect civilian but not overthrow a government. It should represent Africa countries’ opinions. That means we should let Libyans decide if there are crimes against humanity in Libya and who should be the leader of their government. In the whole process NATO made no effort to arrange elections. Rebels refuse stop fighting and as a result civilians continually dying in Libya. Many people believe that rebels knowing they are not being supported by the majority in Libyans and there for they don’t want to get the power through a peaceful election. Yet rebels are considered the only humanity in Libya by UN. They were supported by those so call democracy countries as well.

The consequence of such an ICC warrants can harm Libya seriously. It gives NATO an reason to target Qaddafi. It gives Libya rebels a strong excuse to reject negotiation. Rebels announded right a way about they have no reason to negotiate with a criminal. Being prosecuted and having nowhere to go, Qaddafi will resist to the last minute and he believes he is fighting for Libyans. That means the door for peaceful elections in Libya was closed. A civil war will deftly start in Libya till to the time that we don’t know. White House hailed for the warrant because it came in time for Obama. Just two days before the warrant was issued Obama was accused for bombing Libya without the approving from Congress………

In the last ten years Americans have created two civil wars in the other countries that killed over two hundred thousand people. Expense they spent including interest and compansation payments for the wounds in the future cost close to 4 trillion dollars.Today they still don’t know how to withdraw from the wars without leaving fights behind. On June 27, 2011 an 8- year- old Afghan girl was forced to be a body bomb that killed 4 NATO troops. This is how the cruel of civil wars were and U.S doesn’t mind to make more of those wars. If United States negotiated with Taliban 10 years ago, things will never happen so ugly.

Before ending the wars in Iraq and Afghan Obama created another civil war. He made decision without hesitation because he believes that Americans can do anything set in their mind to. In reality, we cannot even overcome Taliban, a small group in a small country. We have to get into touch with Taliban before withdrawing from Afghan. We think we are the winners by killing bin Laden and we don’t even know the price we have to pay for that in the future. The price could be as higher as what we lost in the fire that destroyed Arizona, Taxes and New Mexico in June 2011.

What does “ It’s a little late “ mean?

June 23rd, 2011  / Author: Pia Fields

On June 16, 2011 Gaddafi’s son Saif-al Islam opened direct negotiation with rebels again. He said the best way to end the bloody crisis was to hold elections. He said the elections could be immediately and with international supervision. His father would step down if he lost

At the same day U.S dismissed the election proposal. The reason is “It’s a little late for any proposals by Gaddafi and his circle for democratic change. It’s time for him to go.” What does “It’s a little late” mean? It means the U.S government dismissed a proposal for peace. As a Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama should know that it is never too late to make negotiation for peace. Let us keep this in mind, “on June 16, 2011 Obama’s admistration dismissed election proposal by Gaddafi son.”

For Obama “ it is a little late” means he doesn’t need negotiation anymore because Gaddfi has no choice but step down. At the time he thought so Gaddafi regime was under intense pressure as rebel forces taken a number of towns and villages in mountains less than 100 miles to the south-west of Tripoli, and moved close to the loyalist stronghold of Zlitan. However, rebels also ran out of fuel and other supply. Gaddafi forces struck rockets to the port area to delay of shipment from Qatar and other countries.

On June 17, Kadhafi stated his comment on TV saying that “We determine to change nothing in our country other than by our own will, not because of alliance’s planes.” He also said that “If they come to the ground, we will wait for them.” That means in his mind only wars in the ground determin who are the winner and they will not allow rebels occupy the ground. They are preparing long term fights.

Even an idiot noticed that America has never win a war after the Second World War. We negotiated in Korea War; we lost in Vietnam War. We have to withdrew from Iraq War and even not war against Taliban – handful people in a small country. Ten years ago Taliban agreed to send bin Laden to the UN and exchanged for peace in Afghanis. Their proposal was dismissed by The United States. Ten years after today, after we lost so many lives and so much money in the Afghanis war we have no choice but negotiate with Taliban before we withdraw from there.

When we withdraw our troops from Iraq we make Iraqis live with bombs that set by Sunni, the minority in Iraq who fought all these years for their already dead leader Saddam. Ten years ago little Bush believed that when his troop reach Baghdad he could declare that America win the war. Ten years after today our troops are still in Iraq and worry about the consequence of pulling out there. Iraq parliament must accept Saddam’s party. They cannot have peace unless they negotiate with their opponents. Obama doesn’t take a lesson for that and believes that NATO can control Libya by supporting rebels and don’t need a negotiation.

Obama dismissing election in Libya also means that he ignores Libyans’ willing and pro-democracy. In the whole process we never see Obama arrange elections but only heard he tell Gaddafi to step down. It is so simple that if rebels represent the majority of Libya why don’t them get power through election? They afraid of election becaus they are the people who invited foringers to bomb their homeland.

Dismissing election proposal by Gaddafi son also means Obama is dumb. As the president of a country that controls NATO, Obama should solve the conflicts in Libya as soon as possible. It is obviously that without Obama’s involving NATO could never start the airplane strike. That strike obviously was not a part of UN’s mission – establishing of a No-Fly Zone. The longer the strikes continue the more it looks like NATO creating a civil war in Libya. Obama did it without congressional authorization and we all know what will be the consequence for that. If we must say “ it is a little late” we should say it is a little late for Obama to adjust his mistake. He has to held the responsibility for the war he launched in Libya, a country that made no threats to us. He has to pay for his sin that cause thousands of people died.

Where is Iraqi’s money — 17 billion dollars?

June 22nd, 2011  / Author: Pia Fields

On June 19, 2011 a piece of news reported by Wvandamme disclosed that “17 billion dollars stolen under US occupation and Iraq can’t sue the US.” Iraq’s parliament therefore sent a fifty pages letter to the U.N. office in Baghdad asked for help. They consider the disappearance of the money a “financial crime”. and worry that “U.N. Security Council resolutions prevent Iraq from making a claim against the United States”. Such big news was not in the top headline of news networks in the United States.

The 17 billion dollars fund was supposed to pay for the salaries and pensions of Iraqi workers and for reconstruction projects. It comes from the sale of Iraqi oil, surplus funds from the UN “oil for food program” and seized Iraqi assets. It was handled by the Development Fund of Iraq (DFI). DFI was established in 2003 at the requests of CPA, the U.S body headed by Paul Bremer that governed Iraq after the invasion. No one on the Iraqi side was controlling the work of Paul Bremer at that time. That is why Iraq’s parliament believed that “the administration of the United States needs to give the answers for where and how this money was being used.” In July of 2010, an audit report from the U.S Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR) confirmed that U.S Department of Defense was unable to account properly for 8.7 million dollars of Iraqi oil and gas money after the 2003 invasion.

It is obvious that for having chances to be corrupt with money some parties were launching wars in spite of sending thousands of people (Americans and Iraqis) to die. In this case it was not a simple corruption. It is involved with killing. We have to make a serious investigation about that and start it from questioning Paul Bremer. We have to chase it step by step: Who kept the money in the beginning, who received the money later and how did they spend it? To those refuse to cooperate we will put them into jails and freez their assets. The harm they did to the Americans are not less than what the terrorists done for they detroy Americans’ reputation.

Please don’t tell me that we are going to ignore Iraq’s requesting the money (from the way that our news networks handle the news it looks like we will). Please don’t tell us that our government is unable to track down the money. After Bin Laden was killed Obama said “Americans can do whatever we set our mind to.” The Parliament of Iraq announces their request in front of the whole world and people are waiting for our answer. We have to prove to the world that we are not robbers and we only fight for justice and freedom (at least that is our motivation but nothing else). Ignoring their letter means we are crooks and robbers. All these years we tell the entire world why and how America fights for democracy, freedom, justice and peace…… When we make that kind of robbery we make people laugh at our face. Oh! How great America is!
